Winter weather is the very difficult to forecast so basically you never really get a good picture on what will happen until about 24-36 hours out. The GFS did pick up on thurs event back around Jan 20th which is pretty good but it is still unclear as to how much snow we will get. Graphic below shows eastern Oklahoma getting dumped on pretty good with snow but still have several more model runs until then.

Its not very ofter you get fog when temps are below freezing but when you do it makes for some cool photography. Went out early to shoot some video and ended up taking a few stills also. A couple of more photo's posted here.

Looks like tomorrow storm chances won't amount to much so attention turns to the possible snow event for the end of the week.

With not much really going on weather wise I will occasionally look at the long range models for entertainment purposes. These usually change with every run but every so often they will pick up on system and it may not happen on the exact day that it is showing at the moment but something could happen around that time frame. This morning while looking I noticed around the end of the month the GFS is showing a chance of storms with a chance of some big snow right after, will be interesting to watch how this pans out.

Only received a small dusting from this last system and looks like a few more just like it will come through over the next few days. I installed a different roof camera which is an old sony camcorder in a modified pelican case to protect it from the weather. I used an old satellite dish mount and attached it to the back of the chimney so it is out of view and it is looking towards the NW which it towards Tulsa. I am interested to see the bandwidth it requires and will probably only have it available during weather events.

Yesterday turned out a little better than I expected and we actually had several tornado warnings issued for NE Oklahoma. All the tornado's ended up being in others states, most of the tornado's in Missouri were storms that fired in Oklahoma and started dropping tornado's once they crossed the border. I was able to get several live streams back to the station during the event, nothing to exciting but it worked great and even looked pretty good for streaming at night. Caught the lightning below looking south from Broken Arrow. This storm went tornadic a few seconds after I got these shots so I had to stop shooting and go after it.

Update:4:00pm
Tornado Watch for the Tulsa area until 10pm. I don't expect to see any tornado's out of this but I am hoping we at least get a good lightning show!

Update:3:00pm
Two separate tornado watches to the northeast of Oklahoma with tornado warnings in central Missouri but nothing here yet. Looks like storms could hold off until dark which is fine with me because that makes for better lightning.

Update:10:30am
With what the RUC is showing I am going to have a hard time leaving Tulsa. Image below shows storms firing west of Tulsa and if there is even the slightest chance of that I need to stay here.

Will be heading out later today for what will probably be a Tornado Watch that should be issued later this afternoon. Not really expecting to see any tornado's but might be able to catch some lighting, wind and hail. Updates to follow.

Just like I guessed in my Jan 2 post this stuff has shifted out of the area and it looks like at this point Ft Smith would be a starting point for a chase. These early systems almost always do this and even by tomorrow Ft Smith may not even be an option. Even though my last storm chase was Oct 24th I not sure if that is enough to get me to go to Little Rock. If I feel like I can get a good lightning show out of it though it would be worth the drive.

Still looking a some type of chase Monday, right now it looks like I will go to a Sallisaw/Ft Smith line and wait for a fast moving squall line to run over me. It has been a few years since we have seen a good squall line with damaging winds in Oklahoma. I am just going to hold out hope for the bare minimum of some good lightning to shoot! If things start to look really interest toward the Little Rock area I may even venture over that way, it has been a long time since my last storm chase so seeing anything would be worth the drive.

Still messing around with some of the website code to try and get it to look the same in IE and Firefox. I have everything correct in Firefox but IE seems to be a little messed up which it is usually the other way around.

I decided to try a new web design and two things I wanted to try was a dynamic web template (dwt) and have the ability to update my front page using Blogger. I like bloggers interface and how easy it is to upload photo/video plus the ability to view compose and html modes at the same time. It took a while to figure out how to get blogger to work with a (dwt) but I eventually figured it out and it seems to be working pretty good. Some of the video clips and the Live Cams are not working right now but I wanted to get the site up to see how it worked and most things will be updated and corrected over the next few weeks.
